All Fire Safety Permit requests must be submitted by authorized University of Arizona staff from: University Facilities Management (UFM) Planning, Development & Construction (PDC) Third-party submittals are not accepted. This includes contractors, vendors, consultants, and event planners. If you are a contractor or external party, please contact your assigned UFM or PDC representative to initiate the permit request on your behalf. Permit requests submitted by third parties will be Denied/ returned without review.
Open Flame/Pyrotechnics Permits
This permit is required for Open Flame/Pyrotechnics usage on campus or within university-owned buildings. Use the following permit requests to ensure fire safety compliance.
NOTE: Shutdown Permit is also required for Open Flame/Pyrotechnic Permits.
Hot Work Permits
A Hot Work Permit is required for operations involving open flames or heat production, such as welding, cutting, or grinding. This ensures fire safety measures are in place to prevent accidents during high-risk activities. All permits must be requested with a minimum of 48 hours prior to need of permit. You will not be able to submit a same day or overnight request.
Shutdown Permits
A Shutdown Permit is required for any work or event that involves deactivating fire protection systems, including alarms or sprinklers. These permits help ensure fire safety remains a priority during temporary shutdowns. All permits must be requested with a minimum of 48 hours prior to need of permit. You will not be able to submit a same day or overnight request.
