Exit Strategy
When you enter any building, public or private, every person should develop an exit strategy. Put simply, this a mental plan of how to get out of a building in an emergency if need be. Look around and see how many exits there are from where you are located. Which is the closest exit? The door(s) you entered and the closest exit may not be the same door(s). An exit strategy consists of knowing a minimum of two ways out of a building.
In the event the fire alarm system is sounding, a person’s first reaction would be to leave the building using the door(s) they entered. This may not be the best strategy to get a person out of the building safely.
