Cause of alarm was unknown and building was not evacuated. RA to call back with event number. UAPD Case Number V240080098 Additional Location Details 218 and Courtyard Description RA called back to update on alarm. UAPD had left without shutting the alarm off and told the RA they would turn it off on their end. RA asked what they should do as it had already been about 15 minutes. CDOC recommended giving it about 5 more minutes to see if the alarm turned off and to then call UAPD non-emergency and ask for an update. Additional Location Details 218 and Courtyard Description RA called back to inform CDOC that the alarms had been turned off. UAPD had thought they turned them off the first time and were unaware they were still going off. UAPD responded to the building again and reset the panel. Cause of the alarm was unknown. UAPD indicated that the cause of the alarm was the smoke detector in the first floor hallway near room 166. CDOC spoke to UAPD who explained the suspected cause of the alarm was burnt cannabis, which could be smelt strongly around the dorm room and all gender restroom indicated. UAPD Case Number V240400054 3:54 pm-DA called to inform CDOC that the fire panel was sounding but was turned off by UAPD. UAPD confirmed there was no fire. DA informed CDOC that UAPD told the DA to call maintenance to fix the fire panel. CDOC informed the DA to call business hours maintenance since it was before the end of the business day, but calling after-hours maintenance was approved if needed. 9:33pm-RA called to inform CDOC that the fire panel was sounding, but UAPD did not show up. CDOC asked the RA to call UAPD. RA called back multiple times stating UAPD did not arrive. Eventually, someone in an official UofA uniform turned the fire panel off. This person said maintenance was needed. CDOC approved call out to maintenance, again for the fire safety issue.

RAOD reported that 5 minutes had passed and there was no UAPD, and then UAPD arrived while on the phone. UAPD cleared the room and found no smoke or anything. As UAPD went to panel it cleared itself. UAPD Case Number V240470047   Response from CD:  UAPD sent someone from their office (not a uniform officer) in addition to someone from the Fire Department. Neither gave me an answer as to what the cause was. I called the non-emergency UAPD line afterwards to get the case number, because they left without speaking with me or any of my RAs. When I called, I asked for more information, which they weren't willing to provide. So I unfortunately don't have a room number or location.
