High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Training

Description

Description

This instructor-led class is required for those who will be driving High Occupancy Vehicles (HOVs), defined as any van or SUV with a seating capacity of 9-15, and full size cargo vans.

The class is held at the University Service Annex, 220 W. 6th Street, room 104A (http://risk.arizona.edu/location). For the seperate, Behind the Wheel portion of class, please meet in the Lobby of the West University Service Annex building.

HOVs are defined as any full size van or Sport Utility Vehicle with seating capacity of 9-15, and full size cargo vans. Minivans and SUVs with seating capacity of less than 9 do NOT require HOV driver training or certification. The HOV certification includes a classroom session and a behind-the-wheel road test (sign up for road test in class). Departments may conduct the behind-the-wheel road test at their own convenience with their own staff upon prior approval and authorization by RMS.

Those interested in conducting their own behind-the-wheel road tests should contact John Murphy at 621-4551 or murphjoh@email.arizona.edu for orientation and approval. For questions about the training requirement and HOV policy, contact John Murphy at 621-4551 or murphjoh@email.arizona.edu.
