Biography


Frank DemerFrank Demer, Health/Safety Officer
Frank Demer has worked as a Health/Safety Officer and Specialist for the University of Arizona Department of Risk Management & Safety since 1989. Frank specializes in Industrial Hygiene – the anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of chemical and physical hazards at work. Chemical hygiene, confined space safety and indoor air quality have been his recent focus however he is always involved in various workplace safety issues also (e.g., fall protection, lockout safety). Frank serves as a member of the Radiation Safety, Chemistry Safety and Steward Observatory Safety Committees and provides coordination and technical support to the Institutional Chemical Safety Committee. He is also an adjunct lecturer for the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health.

Frank earned a B.S. in Medical Technology from the University of Arizona in 1985 and worked as a Certified Medical Technologist full-time for 2 years before returning to the UA to earn a M.S. in Toxicology with an emphasis in Industrial Hygiene in 1989. Frank has been an ABIH Certified Industrial Hygienist in comprehensive practice since 1994 and became a BCSP Certified Safety Professional in comprehensive practice in 2007.
